“Xerox parc has worked out an interesting data embedding method that is kind of like steganography… basically it puts scannable information in the halftone of pictures in the form of little backwards and forwards slashes.”

So… kinda makes it easier to justify staring at all those (*ahem*) pictures, right? There was a similar move a while back to include meaningful digital watermarks in images, and even software that will encrypt data into any standard image or audio file, but PARC’s solution is one that really captures my imagination. It’s just barely perceptable, and that makes it more interesting… that hint of elusive data…
